Has the Tesla Model S Plaid finally found a competitor at its height? Like the firm of Elon Musk, the manufacturer of electric cars Lucid has just announced the arrival of a high-end version of its sedan, the Lucid Air. Called Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance, this model is introduced when deliveries of the Lucid Air Grand Touring are just beginning.

Equipped with a dual electric motor, the sedan develops 1,050 hp, compared to 1,020 hp for the Tesla Model S Plaid. This therefore makes it the most powerful electric vehicle available on the North American market at the time of writing these lines. But the Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance does not beat the Model S Plaid on the 0 to 96 km/h, which it shoots down in 2.6 seconds. Its autonomy is estimated around 717 kilometers.
