RealT presents RMM, a platform for borrowing in DeFi through real estate

RealT unveils RMM, its lending and borrowing platform

The RealT platformknown for bringing real estate investment into the blockchain universe, unveils this Thursday its RMM protocolwhich makes it possible to borrow liquidity thanks to its real estate property.

As a reminder, RealT was created in 2019 by Rémy and Jean-Marc Jacobson, thanks to an American law recognizing the sale of company shares in the form of tokens. Thus, a buyer of Realtokens legally owns a share of the business who owns real estate.

RealT operates on the Ethereum (ETH) network as well as the Gnosis Chain, also known as the xDai network.

The additional synergy offered by RMM to RealT is this ability to bring its tokens in the form of collateralto be able to borrow cryptocurrencies.

Aave (AAVE) users will not be out of place since it will work on the same system. Moreover, the teams of the two projects have precisely worked together to bring existing technology to this new platform.

The RMM protocol will therefore be officially launched this Thursday at 9 p.m. Paris timeand the RealT teams will be live on their YouTube channel from 6 p.m. to present the platform.

The project has also very clearly announced in a press release that one or more airdrops are planned for early adopters interacting with RMM.

A protocol built on Aave’s technology

This launch corresponds to the Beta version of RMM, so more features and assets will be coming to the platform over time.

According to Jean-Marc Jacobson, the maximum collateralization rate at the start should be around 50%that is to say that if we have 1,000 dollars of tokens, we can borrow a maximum of 500 dollars.

Like the Aave protocol, RMM has a clearing system in the event that this value of collateral becomes too low in relation to the loan made. But the co-founder of the platform highlights the fact that the low volatility of real estate will be an asset here to manage its position:

“It’s not like in the crypto markets, the crypto lending platforms, where it’s done to the nearest second and all of a sudden there’s a craze. Let’s not forget that the underlying remains real estate, the movement is slower, so people will have the possibility of adapting to market movements more easily. »

The revolution of RMM is that it brings the possibility to use physical assets as leverage in decentralized finance (DeFi). We are therefore at the beginning of something completely new. If there is still a long way to go before a total symbiosis between the real world and the blockchain universe, RealT is certainly participating in building this future.

I timidly discovered the world of blockchain at the end of 2018 during my quest for financial freedom. Initially invested moderately, it was only two years later that I took the gamble of betting everything on the movement that was taking shape then. I then dedicate 2021 to training myself better to acquire more knowledge and seriousness. As I often like to say: I still have a billion things to learn. And what I do know, I want to share with you.
