Travelers are back after two years of pandemic and the neobank Revolut, cut out for expeditions abroad, is making some changes to its offer. The changes made concern the insurance of Premium and Metal cards, the two most expensive cards in the offer at €7.99 and €13.99 per month.
After many years with its partner White Horse Insurance, Revolut endows its cards with Allianz Partners coverage to capture extended contracts for trips to Premium and Metal customers. Nothing seems to change, except for one point regarding canceled trips due to the pandemic. The free Revolut cards, and the “Plus” plan at €2.99” are not affected.
“Revolut and Allianz expand protections against trip cancellations and interruptions in the event of pandemics and epidemics, including COVID-19”can we read in a press release published on Monday. This is the only change, but it is important as it was lacking until now. Revolut joins its competitor N26, which has already been offering this level of insurance for a year now.
Of course, many airlines were offering customers refunds or free changes to their travel dates based on the latest health decisions. But now, Revolut’s premium customers will buy their ticket with more peace of mind if they encounter any difficulties with their tickets. One could blame the neobank for not having added this additional cover earlier, like N26.
The new Revolut travel insurance
Plane or train tickets (for travel more than 100 kilometers from our main residence) are covered by Allianz Partners cover, including tickets for events such as concerts. In case of need for reimbursement, it will be necessary to see directly with Allianz Partners and not Revolut. For the rest of the card coverage, customers still deal with Mastercard World Elite coverage.
The new partnership program is effective in France but also in 31 markets in the European Economic Area as well as in the United Kingdom. For other benefits of travel insurance at Revolut, operated by White Horse Insurance, the statement says:
“The insurance package provided by Allianz Partners will also include benefits that Revolut customers have already had access to in recent years, such as emergency medical protection abroad, trip cancellation and interruption. , lost or delayed baggage and winter sports coverage”. Note that the Metal offer still offers its free access service to airport lounges in the event of a flight delay.
