At I/O 2022, Google announced its 20+ first-party app update for Android tablets and other large-screen form factors. Along with the visual overhauls, this includes multitasking improvements such as the ability to pull photos between apps, which Google Keep for Android now supports.
get startedYou have Google Keep and another app, like Gmail, open side by side in split-screen mode. If your note contains an image, long press it for a second until it appears, then drag it to the other app.
Google Keep also supports moving images to it (shown in the last item below). We’re seeing this “easily insert photos” capability rolled out widely with Google Keep for Android version 5.22.242.00.90. We tested it on an Android 12 (Samsung) tablet and several Pixel phones.
At the system level, this feature is not new and back to Android 10, while Google showed it on stage in May with Images, which has a nice interaction where the dragged image is converted into a thumbnail. Unfortunately, Gmail doesn’t seem to support moving attachments to other apps.
